For the past six years, the Cox Kids Foundation has partnered with The San Diego Foundation to provide over $1.5 million in scholarships to students, grants to middle and junior high school teachers, and grants to non-profit organizations throughout our region. The San Diego Make-A-Wish Foundation® is a charitable non-profit organization whose purpose is to grant wishes to children between the ages of 2 1/2 and 18, who have been diagnosed with a life-threatening condition. Through outreach and education, every medically eligible child in San Diego and Imperial Counties has the opportunity for a quality wish experience. The Make-A-Wish Foundation provides these special children and their families with an experience that is dramatically different from hospitals and treatments. Since 1969, Center for Community Solutions (CCS) has been creating safe and healthy communities with a core emphasis on the treatment and prevention of sexual assault and relationship violence. Each year, CCS assists more than 15,000 men, women and children. Our services are divided among five program areas including: a Rape Crisis Center; a Clinical Department; a Legal Clinic; an Education and Outreach Department; and a Residential Services Department that includes 24-hour emergency shelters and transitional housing programs for victims of domestic violence and their children.  learn more...
 
 

Cox funds Casa de Amparo, an organization focused on providing unique and vital programs to the youngest victims of domestic violence, the abused, abandoned and neglected children and their families. Voices for Children is a nonprofit agency that has served San Diego’s abused and neglected children for over 25 years, through our network of trained volunteers. Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) spend 10 to 15 hours a month visiting children, reviewing records, building relationships with those involved, and appearing in court to make recommendations to the judge. Juvenile Court judges appoints CASA volunteers to help find safe, permanent homes for children in foster care and ensure they have a sense of hope. Volunteers are always needed. Since they first opened its doors in 1954, Children’s mission has been "to restore, sustain and enhance the health and developmental potential of children through excellence in care, education, research and advocacy."  Children’s is San Diego region’s only designated pediatric trauma center and the only area hospital dedicated solely to pediatric care.
