Cox Hotspots
Cox is now offering Internet hotspots to its customers. Cox Hotspot locations offer a high-speed 3.0Mbps/512Kbps Internet connection powered by Cox Business.
What’s a Cox Hotspot? A hotspot is an "access point" or area covered with wifi technology allowing users to connect their wireless device to send and receive Internet data via a wireless network.
What is needed to connect to a Cox Hotspot? In order to connect to a Cox Hotspot an individual will need a laptop, notebook computer, or a personal digital assistant (PDA) with a standard Internet browser and a wifi compliant (802.11b or 802.11g) wireless card. Cox does not supply any of the equipment an individual will need to connect to the wifi network. Wifi enabled cards are available from most major electronics retailers in-store or online.
Worried about compatibility with a Macintosh? No need! Owners of Macintosh computers will also be able to access Internet at a Cox Hotspot as long as they have an Airport card or other 802.11b or 802.11g wireless card and appropriate software installed.
