In Meriden, the Harlem
Wizards Basketball team rolled into town to take on a team composed
of local elected officials, including Meriden
Mayor Mark Benigni and Senator Tom Gaffey, Boys and Girls Club members,
staffers, Cox Communications employees and even Fox 61’s Tony
Terzi. The game was organized by Cox to officially announce its partnership
with the club, which will include complimentary cable, high speed Internet
and a host of educational programs throughout 2004.
Despite the home team’s loss, the crowd was pleased as the Wizards,
who are currently celebrating their 41st anniversary, are known for
putting on a show that is built on the foundation of fundamental basketball,
serious skills, trick-hoops, acrobatic slams and dynamic personalities
that engage the audience.
“ Around the country, Cox Communications has made a commitment
to be the National Technology Sponsor of the Boys and Girls Club and
we wanted to bring something fun and exciting to the members of the
Meriden Club to kick-off this remarkable partnership,” said Paul
Cronin.

| “ We
are so thankful to Cox for such a wonderful event,” said
Gary Burt, executive director of the Boys and Girls Club of Meriden. “The
night was so exciting for everyone, and Cox did a great job promoting
and organizing it.” |
