Underground
Drop
A dedicated conduit with pull string is required from the home to the pedestal.
Contact the engineer for more details. Cox
recommends using a 2" conduit for U/G Service Drops up to 300'. The
house service drop needs to be installed at 18" of depth minimum. A survey will
be needed for any drops over 300' in the early building stage.
See Contact Service Coordinator for survey.
Aerial Drop
All standard aerial service drops (up to 300')will be complete by Cox Communications
Field Services at time of install. All aerial drops over 300' will need a
survey in early building stage. See Contact Service
Coordinator for survey.
Internal
Wiring
Pre-wiring should be common practice for all new home projects so that no wiring
will be exposed on the outside of the house in order to meet the new home owner
wiring needs. Cox recommends RG-6 Coaxial Cable 67% or greater shielding. This
will help stop unwanted signals and frequencies from interfering with the quality
of the services being provided over that same coax. All internal wiring should
be done by professionals, cables should be ran in a way to avoid future damage
while the rest of the construction takes place in the house. The use of cable
protectors is recommended to avoid damage by nails and screws.
Cox requires
every outlet to be a home-run wired back to the main de-mark
location (in the basement or outside). |
